Review: Foxcatcher


“An act of brilliance that’s a little distant from the reality”


 I always enjoy watching screenplays based on true stories and recently I had a chance of watching Foxcatcher directed by Bennett Miller known for directing Capote and Money ball. This is a story of three men played by three great actors, Steve Carrell as John du Pont, Channing Tatum as Mark Shultz and Mark Ruffalo as David Shultz.

The story goes back to 1980s where wrestling champions Mark and his brother Dave (pet name of David) are working together and both are 1984 Olympic gold medalists. The opening of the movie shows Mark giving a speech in a school on behalf of his brother. Mark is portrayed as a strong and aggressive athlete but unfortunately overshadowed by his brother’s fame. The fortune turns around for Mark when he gets a call from a billionaire John du Pont.
